Kris Keys is a contemporary watercolor artist, performer, and designer whose art explores themes of memory, identity, lineage, and healing. She began painting as a child dealing with hereditary blood and used art as a form of relaxation and expression. She transforms personal and ancestral narratives, especially tied to her health and family memories into visually rich, emotionally resonant collections and experiences. Her work invites audiences to slow down, connect with themselves, and find solace through beauty.

The print “We Travel Nicely” is a study in movement, memory, and intention.

Inspired by my grandmother’s social club, the piece reflects a generation of Black women who, even during the Civil Rights Movement, chose to experience the world with elegance and care. They traveled not as an escape, but as an expression of self-worth moving through unfamiliar spaces with style. and confidence.
